Berkshire, which owns several homebuilders, appears to have taken advantage of Lennar's depressed stock price.
MIAMI, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lennar Corporation (NYSE: LEN and LEN.B), one of the nation's leading homebuilders, announced that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share for both Class A and Class B common stock payable on October 22, 2026 to holders of record at the close of business on October 7, 2026.
Lennar stock LEN gained 5% on Tuesday after Berkshire Hathaway purchased $212.4 million worth of the US homebuilder's shares over three trading days. Berkshire bought 2.74 million Lennar shares, including Class A and Class B stock, bringing its ownership of the company to just over 10%.
Berkshire Hathaway has built almost a 10% stake in Lennar, a Miami-based homebuilder, according to a securities filing. The conglomerate has a long history of taking stakes in homebuilders.
Berkshire Hathaway purchased more than $200 million of depressed Lennar stock over three trading days and now owns just over 10% of the country's second largest home builder.
Lennar, the nation's third-largest home builder, had a earnings miss last week. But it wasn't inflation driving up construction materials or tariffs or wages or any of the other usual suspects that stood out.
