Companies must prepare for successful attacks on critical power infrastructure ​as both physical and cyber threats ‌continue to increase, the CEO of E.ON , Europe's largest operator of energy grids, said ​on Thursday.

Critical energy grids cannot be fully protected ​against outside threats such as drones, the CEO ‌of E.ON said on Wednesday, a week after a drone incident at one of Germany's airports highlighted an increased risk for ​critical infrastructure.

E.ON , Europe's largest energy ​grid operator, on ‌Wednesday posted first-half core profit that ​came in ​slightly ahead of estimates, ⁠boosted by ​the group's division ​that caters to big industrial and municipal clients.
