Shares of major fertilizer producers fell Monday after President Trump said the United States was nearing a deal to purchase potash from Belarus. Nutrien (NYSE:NTR) shares slid over 4% to $73.97, Mosaic Co (NYSE:MOS) fell over 2% to $23.77, Intrepid Potash (NYSE:IPI) dropped over 2% to $36.70, and CF Industries (CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE:CF)) slid roughly 3%.

President Trump is signaling a potential agreement to purchase lower-priced potash from Belarus, a move that could challenge Canadian exporters. In a Monday post on Truth Social, Trump said he is working on a “massive deal” aimed at lowering fertilizer costs for American farmers and ranchers.
