Citigroup has downgraded Smiths Group (LSE:SMIN) to 'neutral' after a post-results rally lifted the shares to a record high, arguing the engineer's recent progress is now fully reflected in its valuation. The Wall Street bank moved off a more positive stance, keeping its price target at £30, following a jump in the stock on the back of Smiths Group (LSE:SMIN)'s latest results.
The industrial-engineering company was one of the top gainers in the FTSE 100 index after it projected an acceleration in top-line growth for the year ahead.
Smiths Group (LSE:SMIN) PLC shares jumped as much as 6.3% to an intraday high of 2,754p after annual margins beat expectations, and broker Stifel said the results offered reassurance that growth should improve during the current year. Stifel retained its 'buy' recommendation and 3,000p price target, which represented 15.8% upside from Monday's closing price before Tuesday's rally.
Smiths Group (LSE:SMIN) has highlighted organic revenue growth of around 4% in the year to July 2027 after completing a major portfolio reshaping and delivering higher profit and margins in its latest financial year. Revenue from continuing operations rose 2.1% to £1.94 billion in the year to July 2026, with organic growth of 1.2%.
