Unite Group PLC (LSE:UTG), the UK's largest student accommodation owner, has exchanged contracts to sell the academy school at its Hawthorne House development in London for £40.7 million, with proceeds first used to reduce leverage. The sale is priced at a 4.9% yield, the annual income as a share of the price, and represents a 2% discount to the school's June 2026 book value.
Unite Group PLC (LSE:UTG) maintained its earnings outlook for the 2026 financial year after its third-quarter update showed falling property valuations despite higher student accommodation bookings. The group still expects adjusted earnings per share of 41.5–43.0p, supported by trading so far this year and bookings for the 2026/27 academic year.
Unite Group PLC (LSE:UTG) said that Thomas Jackson will step down as a non-executive director after the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP) reduced its shareholding in the student accommodation provider. CPP sold its stake in the developer and manager of student housing down to just over 7%, below the 10% threshold for it to have a seat on the board.
